The Journey of Hope

Writers Guild Kenya started as a club in Kenyatta University in June 2014. As a club, it was known as Writers Guild. The club operated in Kenyatta University organizing a number of activities and programs to grow writing in the university. With time, following success of Writing growth in KU and active social media presence, interest grew from different universities and soon branches we started in Kakamega, Eldoret and later Mombasa. With this, there was great need to have a central coordination point.

The need for centralized system of management lead to registration of Writers Guild Kenya as an Incubation Centre to grow writing across the country. The Centre organized a number of activities and conducts activities across the country. From a University club to a National Writers Incubation Centre (one of a kind in Africa) the organization aims to grow to global standards with a clear vision spanning to 2025.

The metamorphosis of the idea through different stages is captured under its mantra of "Journey of Hope". This statement forms the title of the first book published by Writers GUILD Kenya; "Through the JOURNEY of Hope" .

What others say about us

Reading is a fundamental source of knowledge. Writing as  well, is a critical step in building one’s literary and presentation skills. Writers Guild has established a growth arena for both of these important aspects of every keen individual seeking not to be average.

Brian Nyagol CEO, VibeCampo Social Network

Writers guild has shaped my career in the private sector.  Through the meetings we conducted,  meeting ambitious young Kenyans and writing their stories have given me courage to speak my minds to executives with a notion  that impossibility is a limitation of of our mind.

The minority group has been forgotten by feminists, the government and even the civil society. So, since […]

Death at Dawn

By Wr. Cheryl Kahingo On that eventful day, the sounds of the mourning drums tore into the dark silence of the night. The few who had managed to catch some sleep hurriedly woke up. It was a quiet dawn, perhaps too quiet and it seemed that nature too was aware how heavy the matter was. […]
